About Focused Eye Care
Partners Joel Sollom, OD, and Jonathan Schorn, OD, combine traditional and innovative techniques to diagnose, treat, and prevent eye diseases and conditions. They also provide LASIK evaluations, emergency eye care, and specialty eye exams for patients with glaucoma, cataracts, and diabetes. They’re experienced in treating chronic conditions such as macular degeneration and retinopathy.
Beyond the treatment of eye conditions, the doctors at Focused Eye Care offer a diverse range of stylish glasses. The office carries both designer and affordable frames to meet everyone’s needs. They also have a variety of prescription and polarized sunglasses available.
Meet Dr. Sollom
The founder of Focused Eye Care, Joel D. Sollom, OD, is an optometrist with vast experience in providing comprehensive eye care for the whole family. Located in Lakeville, Minnesota, Dr. Sollom performs eye examinations, pre and post surgery care, as well as prevention and treatment of acute and chronic eye diseases.
Dr. Sollom attended the University of South Dakota in Vermillion, where he earned his Bachelor of Science degree with emphases in biology, chemistry, psychology, and anthropology. He continued his education at the Illinois College of Optometry in Chicago, where he earned his Doctor of Optometry degree. While there, Dr. Sollom was a member of the student government and Gold Key International Honor Society.
In 2009, Dr. Sollom earned the Young Optometrist of the Year award from the Minnesota Optometric Association. He’s chair of the Children’s Vision Committee and works with the Minnesota Department of Health to improve vision care for children throughout the state.
When he’s not at the office, Dr. Sollom enjoys spending time with his wife and three daughters. He enjoys time outdoors, hunting, running, and boxing. He’s also a connoisseur of local restaurants and likes eating at places his patients recommend.
Meet Dr. Schorn
At Focused Eye Care, Jonathan J. Schorn, OD, helps patients with all their eye care needs. Located in Lakeville, Minnesota, Dr. Schorn has vast experience in a wide range of optometry services, including pre and post LASIK surgery care and the treatment and prevention of chronic eye diseases.
Dr. Schorn earned a Bachelor of Science degree in biochemistry and molecular biology from the University of Minnesota – Duluth before attending the University of Missouri − St. Louis, School of Optometry. In 1999 he received his Doctor of Optometry degree with Honors.
Because of his dedication to his practice, Dr. Schorn was named 2010’s Young Optometrist of the Year by the Minnesota Optometric Association, where he served as legislative chair for five years. He’s still active with the association and meets with legislators in both Minnesota and Washington, DC, to advocate for patient rights.
He also served as president of the Minnesota Optometric Association in 2013.
Beyond being an outstanding optometrist, Dr. Schorn is active in his church, where he’s involved with the parish council, sings in the choir, and has led the children’s choir during the Christmas season. He also enjoys spending time with his family, playing volleyball, and coaching his daughters’ soccer teams.

Katie has one son in high school and a walking partner named Shadow. Katie started as a receptionist with FEC but has moved to the Optical side of the clinic after 2 years up front. She has been in the customer service industry for 15 years and enjoys putting a smile on everyone’s face with her bubbly personality. She loves to travel and is always up for a new experience; feel free to give her tips on places that are a must-see.
Tracy grew up in North St. Paul, Minnesota but made the trek across the border to live in Wisconsin in 2001. She has been in the customer service industry for 25 years and was a work from home mom as an insurance agent back in 2014 when she decided it was time for a change. She has experience working with vision therapy patients and fully understands the ins and outs glasses prescribed for vision therapy purposes. She loves helping patients find the perfect solutions to help them see clearly all day. In her free time she enjoys spending time with her husband, endlessly chasing their 4 year old and 2 yellow labs around, being on the river, going to the gun range and being with friends and family.
