The founder of Focused Eye Care, Joel D. Sollom, OD, is an optometrist with vast experience in providing comprehensive eye care for the whole family. Located in Lakeville, Minnesota, Dr. Sollom performs eye examinations, pre and post surgery care, as well as prevention and treatment of acute and chronic eye diseases.

Dr. Sollom attended the University of South Dakota in Vermillion, where he earned his Bachelor of Science degree with emphases in biology, chemistry, psychology, and anthropology. He continued his education at the Illinois College of Optometry in Chicago, where he earned his Doctor of Optometry degree. While there, Dr. Sollom was a member of the student government and Gold Key International Honor Society.

Through his internships, he gained experience in pre and post operative care of the retina, cataract, and anterior segment surgeries. Dr. Sollom also participated in a pediatric internship and an oculoplastic specialty internship for reconstructive and cosmetic pre and post operative surgery care.In 2009, Dr. Sollom earned the Young Optometrist of the Year award from the Minnesota Optometric Association. He’s chair of the Children’s Vision Committee and works with the Minnesota Department of Health to improve vision care for children throughout the state.

When he’s not at the office, Dr. Sollom enjoys spending time with his wife and three daughters. He enjoys time outdoors, hunting, running, and boxing. He’s also a connoisseur of local restaurants and likes eating at places his patients recommend.

At Focused Eye Care, Jonathan J. Schorn, OD, helps patients with all their eye care needs. Located in Lakeville, Minnesota, Dr. Schorn has vast experience in a wide range of optometry services, including pre and post LASIK and Cataract surgery care and the treatment and prevention of chronic eye diseases.

Dr. Schorn earned a Bachelor of Science degree in biochemistry and molecular biology from the University of Minnesota – Duluth before attending the University of Missouri − St. Louis, School of Optometry. In 1999 he received his Doctor of Optometry degree with Honors.

With experience in multiple settings, Dr. Schorn has helped thousands of patients before and after refractive eye surgery and has over 25 years of experience providing comprehensive family eye care. As a partner at Focused Eye Care, he provides full-service optometry services, including comprehensive eye examinations, eye disease management, glasses, contact lenses, and pre- and post-surgery care.

Because of his dedication, Dr. Schorn was named 2010’s Young Optometrist of the Year by the Minnesota Optometric Association, where he served as legislative chair for five years. He’s still active with the association and meets with legislators in both Minnesota and Washington, DC, to advocate for patient rights.

Dr. Schorn’s greatest professional honor was president of the Minnesota Optometric Association in 2013.

Beyond being an outstanding optometrist, Dr. Schorn is active in his church, where he’s involved with the parish council, sings in the choir, and has led the children’s choir during the Christmas season. He also enjoys spending time with his family, playing volleyball, and coaching his daughters’ soccer teams.

Dr. Carlee Nestrud is a passionate optometrist dedicated to providing comprehensive eye care to patients of all ages.

Originally from Oakdale, MN, she earned her undergraduate degree in biology from Miami University in Ohio before completing her Doctor of Optometry degree at Southern College of Optometry in Memphis, Tennessee. During optometry school, Dr. Nestrud was honored to be a member of the Beta Sigma Kappa optometric honor society and graduated summa cum laude.

Throughout her education, Dr. Nestrud gained extensive experience through clinical rotations in primary care, ocular disease, contact lenses, and pediatrics, providing her with a well-rounded foundation in optometric care. After graduating, she returned to Minnesota, where she provided comprehensive eye care in Edina before joining the team at Focused Eye Care.

Dr. Nestrud is excited to work with her new patients and is committed to delivering exceptional care for the entire family. Outside of her professional life, she enjoys reading, traveling, exploring new restaurants, and spending quality time with her husband and their two cats, Callie and Leo. 

Dr. Rian Cleary earned his Bachelor of Science degree in biology from the University of St. Thomas in Minneapolis, MN. He then completed his Doctor of Optometry at the Illinois College of Optometry in Chicago, IL in 2013. During that time, Dr. Cleary completed professional externships in primary eyecare, ocular disease, contact lenses, and pediatrics. 

After his studies, he spent several years in cataract refractive surgery in Edina, MN working with multiple Ophthalmologists. Before joining Focused Eye Care, Dr. Cleary provided comprehensive eye care in Shakopee, MN.

Outside of the office, Dr. Cleary enjoys spending time with his wife and children, cooking/grilling, playing hockey every week, and loves all activities involving the outdoors including hunting, fishing, and snowboarding. 

Dr. Cleary is very excited to now serve the Lakeville, Farmington, and surrounding communities with the team at Focused Eye Care.
